The House of Balenciaga’s new Spring-Summer 2012 Holiday collection as arrived.

It is the materials used which make this season’s Holiday accessories collection stand out. This collection of «Classic Giant» leather items has been made for the first time using grained calfskin, introducing a new version of the famous “Classic” handbags line.

The choice to use this elegant and luxurious material reinforces the timelessness of Balenciaga’s leading bag models and small leather items in the Holiday Spring-Summer 2012 collection.

CULTSTATUS has selected the the bordeaux with gold classic Giant hardware for our stores. The softness of this palette and the matte grained leather contrast with the shine of the «Giant» guilloché metalwork in gold.

A scarf completes the Spring-Summer 2012 Holiday leather collection. The scarf features a modern, abstract and stylised floral motif from the 1959 House of Balenciaga archives. This rectangular scarf is made from fine cashmere and silk and finished with a fringe. The signature (BALENCIAGA, 10 avenue George V) is placed almost in the centre of the scarf and in deliberately large print, representing both a symbol of Couture and a graphic statement.

BALENCIAGA FW11 - METALLICS

We have just received a new drop of FW11 bags, the colours are drool worthy and definitely worth of visit to see in person. Poppy, Cylcamen, Blue Lavender and Papryus are all amazing colours.

We also received a very limited number of the new metallics. I think the last time that Balenciaga made these would have been in 2005?! We have the City in the Silver and the Slate - both are beautiful and very versatile colours. They are already a favourite with us at the store.

We will post more combinations of the new colours in the next day.

BALENCIAGA Pre Fall 11

Our first delivery from Balenciaga's Pre-Fall collection has just arrive. Here are a few photos ofr the stunning new colours. Come many combinations instore now and a new drop scheduled to arrive by Mid-August! We have busy unpacking boxes - so many new deliveries....stayed tuned or best still visit us instore!

As seen above in US Harper’s Bazaar May. This new style as the markings of the classic motorcycle line but has been undate in suede with contrasting trim for a 70s bohemian feel. Perfect with wide leg jeans.

BALENCIAGA – the Blues

 

So the first drop of Balenciaga SS11 arrived this last week and we were all eager to compare the colours.  There are two blues this season, the Nuage which is a bright sky blue colour and the “Ardoise” which is a blue/grey. 

Before they arrive instore, we were expecting a colour similar to “Tempete”.   It is actually lighter, perhaps closer to Argent…anyway a photo is worth a  thousand  words – especially when colours are involved.  Here they are:

 

We will do a pink colour comparison soon, as the past seasons of Sorbet, Framboise, and Pivione  should be compared with the new Grenadine.  We will have to see what is in on the stocklist.

Introducing the BALENCIAGA Butterfly

 

A new style for SS11, the Butterfly has two slip pockets on each side which are covered by a flap with a zippered pocket detail.  The main compartment opens with a long extended zipper and has one exterior zip pocket.

It is a great shape which is also unisex in styling.   More than a few customers have commented that the bag would be great bag for a man. It has a organised look to it and the handles are a good length for it to me handheld.  It can also be carried under the shoulder quite easily.

BALENCIAGA - sizing questions

The Work, Part-Time and City (top to bottom/ largest to smallest) are the most popular models. We always get questions on the sizing for these models, but photos of the bags being carried give the best idea of scale. The City and Part-Time both have an additional shoulder strap that can be detached, however the work is only has the double handles.

Above a Work with Giant hardware which has been worn in and has developed a slouch. The handles once worn in are easy to be carried on the shoulder.

BALENCIAGA Medium Pampille Cross

 

A new styles for FAll 10, the Pampille is part of the Perforated Cross family.  It comes in 2 sizes , Small and Medium, however we only carry the Medium at the CULTSTATUS.

A  nicely detailed drawstring bag which is also very light, the Pampille is perfect casual bag for the Aussie summer that we are now heading into. Available in Plomb/lead as shown below.

Taking inspiration from the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar (US Edition), highlight on “the Drawstring Bag” and “Hobos”, we have put together a selection available at Cultstatus now:

DRAWSTRING BAGS

1) Balenciaga PomPom. Available in giant hardware, giant covered hardware and classic hardware.

The Pampille Cross featured in the editorial comes in 2 sizes, but we have only ordered the medium. The “Cross” refers to the perforated “X” shape cutout on the leather. the floral version was recently featured in Marie Claire (US Ed - August). Not arrived yet, but due in Nov/Dec in a few colours.

2) Alexander Wang Diego – a classic for Wang and one of his best sellers. Try the Velvet cut for something different….as seen on Kate Bosworth.

HOBOS

1) Lanvin Cabeceo Hobo (as featured) - an elegant Hobo in a quilted leather. Available in Black and blue.

2) Balenciaga “Day” – all the classic motorcycle signatures in this practical design with zip top closure.
